Antwerp event for art lovers
04.02.2009
Art lovers may wish to make the ferry trip to Belgium this year to catch an exhibition with a difference. Those searching for a collection of pristine portraits should look elsewhere, as the Goya, Redon, Ensor: Grotesque Paintings and Drawings events serves up a selection of work from these artists who were renowned for their unconventionally dark style.
Visitors will be able to see Fransisco Goya"s depictions of demons, Odilon Redon"s mystical works and James Ensor"s caricatures.
Rare etchings and drawings from the artists will be on show, with those making the trip to Antwerp able to see exactly why these pieces are seen as pioneering and inspired so many 20th century artists.
Entry for anyone interested in spending a day gazing at this array of masterful art is just eight euros (£7) with concessions able to gain access to the exhibition for six euros.
If it is buying paintings, rather than just looking at them, that interests you, the Affordable Art Fair will be held in Belgium between February 12th and 15th.
