Amsterdam puts on Art City treats

Culture vultures will want to hop on a ferry to Holland this year with a major city offering all kinds of treats.

In 2009 Amsterdam is an Art City, with plenty for lovers of museums and galleries to do and see.

One such example is the Riksmuseum which hosts some of the world"s finest art in its Masterpieces collection.

Here visitors will find what the museum describes as its "crème de la crème" with this including highlights from the Golden Age period.

As well as these fantastic examples, those making the ferry trip to Holland can keep their kids happy in the Riksmuseum, as it puts on numerous events, workshops and activities for youngsters.

Those with a keen eye for culture will also want to head to the Hermitage Amsterdam Museum which showcases all kinds of artefacts and exhibits from the city"s rich history, with those taking the time to visit sure to be captivated from start to finish.

Meanwhile, those planning a trip to Amsterdam next year will want to do so when the Stedelijk Museum reopens.
