Brits 'interested in gastro holidays'

Brits are becoming increasingly interested in breaks which embrace food and drinks, an expert has suggested.

Jonathan Cudworth, director of product management at Expedia.co.uk for Europe, the Middle East and Africa, commented that people from the UK are becoming more inspired to travel regularly, those planning a ferry crossing to france"s Champagne region may be interested to hear.

He said that British attitudes to food have changed in the last few years, which has, in turn, altered the experience of consumers abroad.

Mr Cudworth stated that this has manifested itself in an upturn in popularity for gastro holidays, which includes more people booking breaks such as those involving wine tasting, holidaymakers preparing for a ferry break in France may be interested to hear.

He said: "It"s great to see that Brits are becoming more adventurous when it comes to dining abroad – even if sometimes they"re not entirely sure what it is they’re eating."

According to a recent study by TripAdvisor, only two per cent of those asked stick to familiar meals while on holiday.ADNFCR-1871-ID-19347314-ADNFCR
