Christmas markets are in abundance in France
11.11.2009
People taking ferries to Dunkerque are close to a selection of French Christmas markets which give visitors the chance to sample local traditions and get great gifts for loved ones, according to a newspaper. The Times stated that markets in Lille, Paris, Reims and Strasbourg offer visitors the chance to engage with the French way of life at Christmas and said they are among the best in Europe.
"Father Christmas attends frequently until the Saturday before Christmas when he "falls" from the Chamber of Commerce"s 80-metre-high belfry," the newspaper said, commenting on the Lille market.
It added that the Lille event is a month long and is only a short ride away from other locations around the north of France, including the Brittany region.
British trip-hop legends Massive Attack will be bringing their unique sound to Lille on November 14th as part of a tour which takes them around the UK and Europe.
