17.11.2009
People taking cross channel ferries to france will be close to two European cities which both have Christmas markets that are well worth visiting, according to one newspaper. The Daily Mail said that both Lille and Brussels are hosting yuletide markets which have stalls from around the world and offer revellers the chance to take in a new culture in a spectacular setting.
Writing about Brussels it stated: "Often dismissed as a bureaucratic bunker, Brussels is a city with an unappreciated buzz, especially as Christmas approaches and its sensational market takes over the Place Sainte-Catherine."
It added that the Lille market climaxes with Santa Claus "falls" from the belfry of the Place Rihour"s clock tower.
British trip-hop legends Massive Attack recently played a gig at the Zenith Arena in Lille on November 14th, performing hits like Unfinished Sympathy, Angel and Teardrop.
