Cross channel ferries: Travellers near to natural beauty spot
21.12.2009
People taking cross channel ferries are close to a ski resort which one newspaper said is blessed with wonderful areas of natural beauty and fantastic ski runs. The Observer reported on Auvergne"s pistes and ski runs, and added that it is easily accessible from major cities, such as Paris.
It stated: "The Auvergne is a national park of 80 craters and glacial lakes. Beautiful in summer, the dramatic landscape becomes nature"s gift to skiers when it is covered in snow. It"s ideal for exploring on cross-country skis or snowshoes."
Some areas of the resort have terrain which resembles "a lunar landscape", according to the newspaper, which could interest people taking cross channel ferries this winter ski season.
In other news, the Independent recently reported that smaller resorts such as Métabief and Plancher Les Mines in Franche-Comté have benefited most from the 6.6 per cent increase in visitors seen in the 2008 winter season.
