Ferries to Dunkerque close to hidden gem
08.02.2010
People taking ferries to Dunkerque are near to a ski resort which is a hidden gem, according to one newspaper, which said it has a charm which some other French slopes lack. The Daily Telegraph stated that Alpe d"Huez is France"s fifth-largest resort and differs greatly from the more popular resorts of Flaine and La Plagne because it is not a purpose-built ski location.
"Its excellent lift system boasts one of the longest cable cars in the world. And transfer time is reasonable too, at just under two hours from Grenoble, via the 21 hairpin bends of Tour de France fame," it reported.
The newspaper added that there are lots of bars for people to explore on an evening.
A spokesperson from Atout France, the French government"s tourism department, recently said that holidaying in France can be very affordable even to people on the tightest of budgets.
