Monet house provides source of inspiration

15.10.2009
People taking ferries to france may wish to travel down to the former residence of one of Europe"s most famous painters and see the flowers which provided the inspiration for many of his paintings.

The Giverny house was the abode of Claude Monet and it is opened until the end of October, which means art lovers still have the chance to look at some of the gardens where he painted.

Weeping willows, poplars and ash trees can all be found at the estate, which was specifically designed by the painter.

The house"s website stated: "The rectangular Clos Normand lies in front of the house, with archways of climbing plants wrapped around superbly coloured shrubs."

TravelBite.co.uk reported on the great activities on offer for families wanting to get the most out of holidays in northern France, which include cycling around the region and visiting sights of natural beauty.
