People on ferries to France will get more for their pound

People getting ferries to france will see their money go further this summer as the pound reaches a record high for the year against the euro.One pound is now worth 1.1756 euros and has also boomed against the dollar, taking it to $1.6575.
The figure against the euro is the highest rate this year, with it falling last week amidst concerns over prime minister Gordon Brown"s leadership.
It is good news for those getting ferries to France, as research from the Post Office, commissioned for Your Money, found a typical meal in Spain will now cost £36.47 compared to £40.36 in March.
The figures also stated that 12p will now be saved on a cup of coffee, lager is 20p cheaper and car hire and hostels are likely to have bigger savings, the Mirror reports.
Sarah Munro, head of travel at the Post Office, said: "In recent weeks we have seen a steady recovery in sterling"s fortunes against the euro."
