Belgian style offers ideal opportunity for travellers

23.06.2009
British travellers could consider taking a ferry ride across the channel and heading to Belgium this summer, it has been suggested.

A report in the Independent has claimed that the Belgian coastline has a wide variety of exciting and interesting treats to offer visitors, at a far cheaper price than other parts of Europe.

Writing in the newspaper, Rhiannon Batten explains that sophisticated travellers will doubtless be surprised by the stylish port towns and villages along the Flemish coastline, little more than a ferry trip away.

Sapling the different ports that the region has to offer, Ms Batten explained that there are several different types of resort available, from "snobbish" Knokke-Heist, which she described as the "glitziest" of the region"s resorts, to Nieuwpoort, a fishing port turned smart resort.

She explains that Nieuwpoort offers an "array of sophisticated shops and bars, but without the snobbishness".

Earlier this week, the Daily Mirror highlighted the potential on offer in Britanny, which it pointed out is more accessible than many parts of Britain thanks to good ferry connections.

The newspaper suggested the French coastal resort was the ideal spot for a traditional summer holiday by the seaside.
