Belgium set for musical showcases
20.01.2009
Britons looking for a musical getaway may wish to take a ferry to Belgium later this year as two renowned events are staged. From March 1st until June 19th, jazz will fill the streets of Flanders as the VW Spring Sessions get into full flow.
The showcase prides itself as being a collection of talented individuals putting on a wealth of performances, rather than being a festival in the traditional sense, with concerts put on throughout the region to mark the celebration.
Anyone in Belgium during June may wish to check out the Sfinks World Music event, which has took place annually since the 1970s.
Originating as a small folk gathering, the date is now one of the most looked-forward together in the Belgian musical calendar, with an increasingly diverse and exotic line-up taking to the stage each year.
Around 40,000 visitors make their way to Belgium for the event, with the help of 1,500 volunteers key on getting the show going.
