Bruges is 'winter delight'
22.10.2008
A traditional Christmas holiday in Europe may be easily gained with a quick ferry to the continent, with Bruges taking on a different personality during the festive period, according to a news provider. The Times identified the Belgian city as one of the most attractive places to spend the Christmas holidays, where frozen art litters the streets after the month-long Snow and Ice Sculpture Festival shows the country"s finest carving skills.
"Winter cities don"t come much more romantic than Bruges, its cobbled streets and squares clacking with picturesque ponies and traps, its gabled guild houses iced all over with lights," the news provider added.
According to the City of Bruges" website, the Belgian capital is the home to both historical buildings - which earned the city Unesco World Heritage status in 2000 - but the new Concert Hall also gives the place a level of modern flair.
It added that the amount of good cuisine on offer was enough to give any ferry traveller a "true feast".
