Ferry trips to Belgium 'lead to fine arts fair'

People who are taking cross channel ferries to Belgium next month will have the opportunity to attend the 55th Brussels Antiques and Fine Arts Fair.The show will present the finest antiquities, Oceanic, African and Oriental art, antique jewellery, silver, furniture and works from the medieval period to the 20th century at the Tour and Taxis building in the heart of the capital.
About 130 participants from countries including the US, France, Germany, the UK, Holland, Hungary, Italy, Luxembourg, Monaco and Spain are expected to attend, while a restaurant and champagne bars will keep visitors refreshed and sustained as they view the antiques and art on exhibit.
Last year, the event welcomed more than 36,000 people from all over the world.
In June this year, the Magritte Museum in Brussels opened to celebrate the work of the surrealist painter.
The attraction is home to a collection of over 200 Magritte paintings, plus archival material, letters written by the painter, photographs and drawings.
