Korperwelten provides literal insight
12.11.2008
Less squeamish ferry users will be given a literal insight into how the human body works at the upcoming Korperwelten exhibition in Brussels, it has been stated.Over 200 specimens of authentic humans will be showcased at the event, each one aiming to emphasise and demonstrate the abilities of humans and the advances in dissection technology, according to the Brussels tourist office.
"The exhibit features original plastinates, never before seen in Brussels, including individual organs, transparent body slices and whole bodies, transformed through the revolutionary preservation process," it continued.
It added that it displayed "exquisite form and physiology".
The exhibition also hopes to illustrate bodies facing disease, stress and health problems with those which are medically sound, showing the most glaring differences between the two to help visitors understand how the body can be affected.
Brussels" surreal side, as demonstrated through Korperwelten, was emphasised by Lonely Planet which applauded the Belgian capital for its fine food, cafe culture and Art Nouveau architecture.
