France is 'home to ultimate New Year getaways'
18.11.2008
Those wanting a New Year getaway with a difference should jump on the ferry this year to see 2009 come in with our Gallic neighbours, the French.France has had three resorts named as top places to visit by Sarah Turner of the Guardian, assisted by Nicola Iseard.
Top of the list for all countries is Paris, where "firework displays range from the grand to the impromptu," usually offset by focal points found at the Eiffel Tower and the Champs-Elysees, with the latter providing a gathering point for crowds to let off bangers and watch the "spectacular light show".
Ski enthusiasts can always shack up in Tignes, which "will be holding a free outdoor party for 15,000 people on December 31st", Ms Turner continued.
However, both young and old can always enjoy a trip to Disneyland, which is described by the writers as "one place you can count on for a family-friendly New Year".
Disneyland Paris provides a "3-D dream movie experience" with its IMAX theatre facilities, along with regular cinemas, live shows, a nightclub and Sea Life aquarium so that the entire family has something to enjoy, according to the resort"s promoters.
