Fantastic artwork can come in many forms, from classical paintings to magnificent sculpture and just about everything else in between. One form of expression is the simple comic strip and it is this which those hopping on a ferry to Belgium later this year will be able to enjoy, thanks to a major industry event.
Visitors to the country can see the Belgian Comic Strip Center in Brussels open its 20 Years Later exhibition in October.
Running for the duration of the month, this show depicts the recent history of European comic strips, focusing on some of the finest works of the last two decades, captivating guests in the process.
Visitors can also enjoy exhibitions such as the Victor Horta Area, which pays tribute to Art Nouveau pioneers, and the Saint Roch Room, which is devoted to original sketches known as the centre"s "treasure".
With this suitably whetting a visitor"s appetite for fine creations, those making the ferry trip to Belgium could then head on to Faerie 2009, which presents fantastic artwork from all over the world in October.
