Ferries to France: Jazz festival comes to Antwerp
18.11.2009
People taking ferries to france could pay a visit to one of Europe"s premier jazz festivals, which is welcoming some of the most famous players from around the world to perform their songs.Jazz Middleheim is held in Park Den Brandt, Antwerp from August 13th to 16th and will feature Toots Thielemans, Lou Reed of Velvet Underground fame and John Zorn, who will improvise in a similar manner to Ornette Coleman, according to the event"s website.
"Toots Thielemans may be 87 and the years may be starting to weigh, but the man seems indestructible. The festival"s artistic godfather cannot be missed at "his" festival. At Jazz Middelheim, he can always bring up the extra effort," he said.
Music that is inspired by the 14th and 15th centuries has been heard in Antwerp recently at the Laus Polyphoniae festival, which is part of the Festival Van Vlaanderen-Antwerp and hosts polyphonic music composers.
