Those who hopped on a cross-Channel ferry to Cannes earlier this year may want to jump aboard once again, but this time set sail for Belgium.Between October 22nd and 31st, the country is hosting the Festival Des Libertes, otherwise known as the Cinema Festival of Freedom.
While offering something completely different to the glitz and glamour of Cannes, this event will serve up plenty to keep film fans entertained.
Taking place in Brussels, it explores themes surrounding freedom, with numerous inspiring works on show for visitors to enjoy.
Dozens of movies will be screened, with honours dished out at the end of the festival for those judged to be the best on show.
Lovers of this event may then want to head back on the ferry to Belgium in November for the Bronks Festival.
This showcases all kinds of theatre productions specifically aimed at youngsters, giving parents the perfect choice when it comes to a break that will keep their kids happy.
While in Belgium, mums and dads may want to take some time out from the theatre fun to enjoy some of the country"s renowned beer and chocolate, with the latter on sale throughout the nation in specialist outlets devoted to confectionary.
