Jazz set to fill French region

The soothing sound of jazz, and reams of music lovers, are heading to France later this year as a top event kicks off.Dozens of stars will travel to the country for Jazz a la Villette, in a festival which is sure to have many of the genre"s fans hopping on a cross-Channel ferry.
Held between September 1st and 13th, it sees venues around Paris filled with performers, with those turning out in 2009 including the Ornette Coleman Quartet, Ron Carter, John Zorn and Daniel Darc.
However, it is not just jazz lovers that will be in their element, as hip hop heroes De La Soul take to the stage on September 9th, with visitors sure to be able to hear some of the group"s most influential hits such as Me, Myself and I and The Magic Number.
If this sounds like your kind of thing, a ferry trip to Holland may be the perfect break this summer.
On July 24th the Watt venue in Rotterdam hosts hip hop superstar Snoop Dogg, while fellow rap A-lister B Real takes to the stage at Melkweg in Amsterdam on August 17th as part of a bill which also includes The Psycho Realm.
