Nick Oram who is the director of Total Media said that the travel agents can now reach the vacationer's homes with the help of internet and people booking ferries to France can get quotes on accommodation and other travel requirements within few seconds.

"Price comparison is very easy, you can find out all sorts of relevant information about what you need very easily and I think that has helped and allowed the trend over the last few years of people booking their holidays directly," he said.

According to the expert, people planning to take ferries to France still like to rely on brochures and this rich source of information forces travel agents to be honest about travel options.

A report titled Social Travel by Total Insight recently showed that although the internet is a great place to find travel information, Facebook and Twitter too play a big role when it comes to online travel advice.
