Ferries to France easier for young pets
08.04.2009
Pets are better travelling on ferries to france than going by plane, according to one animal owner.Keith Shepherd, writing on The Shetland News, says his puppy travelled on a ferry at seven to eight months old and coped well with the experience.
The owner says the puppy settled into its small kennel well for the trip and seemed to sleep well throughout the night.
"A 22:30 GMT check showed she was sound asleep and in the morning she showed no sign of distress and we soon had her home," Mr Shepherd states.
The traveller said he had problems trying to take the animal on Flybe"s plane service as Loganair says the animal must be more than 12 months old, so they decided on the ferry option.
People travelling with a pet need to mention this at the time of booking and will often have to pay a £30 charge for each pet.
