Ferries to France: BA staff are set to strike
12.03.2010
People taking ferries to france will be able to avoid the planned strikes by British Airways (BA) staff, which will affect travel plans at the end of this month. The Unite union called for seven days of strikes after talks between itself and BA, which were chaired by TUC chief Brendan Barber, broke down.
"Unite said the first strike, for three days, will take place on March 20th and the second, lasting four, on March 27th. Further strikes will also be held from April 14th, unless a deal can be reached," the Daily Telegraph reported.
The strike follows the plan for 12 days of action at Christmas which were outlawed by the High Court after the ballot was deemed illegal.
In other news, people travelling to France via Eurostar were left stranded for hours after the service they were on suffered a power failure and took eight hours to get from London to Paris just before Christmas.
