Ferries to France: Eurostar is 'slammed' for Channel Tunnel problems
11.02.2010
People taking ferries to france can avoid the chaos that was caused recently when Eurostar passengers were left stranded in the Channel Tunnel. The train provider has been criticised in a study by former train company boss Christopher Garnett and French civil engineer Claude Gressier for the incident, which saw delays and cancellations over a 48 hour period in December last year.
AFP reported: "Eurostar should also bolster winter shielding inside trains, and improve communications inside the tunnel between Britain and France, where more than 2,000 passengers were left stranded for hours just before Christmas."
The full report will be published tomorrow (February 12th), according to the Financial Times and looks into how rescue trains became stuck themselves while trying to retrieve broken down locomotives.
Passengers were left stranded for hours recently after the Eurostar service they were on suffered a power failure and took eight hours to get from London to Paris.
