Ferries to France: Metz is a 'secret gem'

23.03.2010
People taking ferries to france can visit a city in the north-east of the country which is still an unexplored gem, according to one expert, who said that visitors can experience a wide variety of culture in Metz.

The Guardian reported that Metz has become a new interesting city for holidaymakers to visit and is only an hour and 20 minutes journey from Paris, which may attract people taking ferries to France.

"When the dazzling new Centre Pompidou-Metz museum opens its doors on May 12th, this little-known city in the north-east of France will suddenly become a hot new weekend destination," it stated.

The newspaper added that the city is flooded with fantastic bistros and gourmet restaurants that people can try out.

Ferry passengers could follow the advice of the Guardian’s Viv Groskop who recommended taking a trip to Cafe Flore in Paris - where philosophers Simone de Beauvoir and Jean-Paul Sartre famously hung out and listened to jazz with their peers.
