People on ferry trips 'should prioritise travel insurance'
12.05.2009
The priority for people taking a weekend ferry trip abroad should be travel insurance, an expert asserts.Perry Wilson, founder of InsureandGo, says that people often ignore the low cost of a policy of this type and put their families at risk.
He adds that the most important area for people taking a ferry trip to consider is medical cover, as these individuals will probably not be carrying a large amount of luggage.
"People don"t understand that when they go abroad, especially Europe, they"ll patch you up but you won"t get a free ticket home," he asserts.
Mr Wilson states that the presence of a health insurance policy will ensure that people can take a ferry trip abroad at short notice.
Recent research by Sainsbury"s Travel Insurance found that in the past year 1.3 million people with pre-existing medical conditions failed to inform their travel insurers about health issues.
It also discovered that 500,000 people experiencing a disease or ailment travelled abroad without being covered by a policy of this type.
