Travellers 'should not be paranoid' about recession

23.06.2009
People considering taking a cross channel ferry this year should not be put off their holiday simply because of the economic downturn, it has been suggested.

Many people are feeling the pressure of the recession, with those in employment often feeling compelled to stay in touch with the office at all times and work as many hours as possible to keep their job and ensure the company can remain in business.

However, Kristina Wallen, managing director of HARP Wallen Executive Recruitment, has suggested that taking a break, possibly on a trip to Europe via a ferry, might offer a good way to ensure business continues to remain strong.

Getting out of the office and having the opportunity to recharge batteries can be a vital way to ensure staff return to work this winter full refreshed and ready to help businesses flourish as the recession comes to an end.

Writing for TravelMole, Ms Wallen said it is important for staff not to become paranoid about the threat of the recession and to make sure they take breaks.

Recent research from thetrainline.com has found that a growing number of people planning trips this summer are aiming to stay with families or friends to avoid the cost of a hotel.

Taking a ferry to france and staying with friends or family in the region can be a good way to help cut the cost of a holiday during the recession.
