Eurostar breaks down at Ashford
22.02.2010
People will be pleased that they have booked their cross channel ferry, as Eurostar has had another failed service.A train broke down last night, leaving 700 passengers stranded on their way to London.
The Eurostar service from France stopped near Ashford, Kent, leading to a rescue train being sent by British Transport Police.
Eurostar said that it did not yet know what had happened or what had caused the fault, adding that they were investigating it.
A passenger on the train told the Times that the train suddenly came to a halt and the lights went out, with British Transport Police coming at around midnight.
It is the latest blow for the train company, which faced disruptions last week on Brussels routes following a train crash in the country. Passengers were also trapped in the trains during the Christmas period after ice led to faults on the lines.
