Trekking in France is 'fabulous'
09.06.2009
If a holiday filled with fun and unpredictability sounds appealing, a donkey-trekking trip in France may be just what you are after, a journalist has suggested.Stephen Bleach, writing for the Times, took his family on just this kind of break and described it as a "fabulous experience", those considering a ferry trip to the country may be interested to hear.
However, as with all of the best plans in life, things did not run entirely smoothly and some patience and effort was required.
The writer revealed that training a donkey to follow a route with minimum fuss is not as easy as it sounds, as they most certainly do not come with stop and start buttons.
Despite this, Mr Bleach"s break combined trekking and walking, which allowed him to see some stunning sights and take leisurely strolls through all manner of terrain.
He concluded: "A donkey-walking holiday is a fabulous experience and, if you don"t mind a little unpredictability in life, you should go on one tomorrow."
After a week of trekking, Brits may want to head to Blaye in July to catch the International Showjumping Festival, where they can see if the horses on show are any better behaved than their donkeys.
