After holidaymakers have taken a cross channel ferry they could continue their journey to a German city which has been reborn, according to one newspaper. The Independent stated that Munich is no longer a cold, industrial city, but now has a hipster cool which is attracting both German and foreign visitors looking for a city break.
"Oktoberfest draws thousands to the Bavarian capital every autumn, but when the Oompah bands lay down their tubas and the beer-swigging hordes stagger home, there remains a city of history, culture, and an ever increasing hipster quotient," it stated.
The newspaper added that there is still a traditional Bavarian sense to the city and now it benefits from an improved Jewish quarter which includes a museum.
