Travellers get out of their comfort zone
22.06.2009
A third of travellers to foreign cities feel that they are taking a leap out of their comfort zone, new research has suggested.According to a survey carried out by Holiday Extras, people who head to a new city, potentially travelling on a cross channel ferry, feel vulnerable when they arrive at their destination and are faced with apprehension because of their lack of understanding about the area.
As a result, Holiday Extras suggests that people consider carrying out plenty of research before arriving at their destination - perhaps while on the ferry - so that they do not feel too concerned on arrival.
"Preparation for your arrival will prove the most successful way of getting your holiday off to the perfect start," said Mike Whiting, managing editor at Holiday Extras.
Meanwhile, the Foreign and Commonwealth Office recently urged more people to check the local laws of their destination when researching their holiday.
The advice was issued after research found many people could be unintentionally breaking local laws because they have not checked the rules.
It found that many women had sunbathed topless without first finding out whether it was against the law in the area.
