One of Belgium"s most exciting pop groups has spoken about being inspired by Ghent when they created their music, according to one newspaper. The Japan Times reported that Das Pop started their musical journey in Ghent, which could interest people taking cross channel ferries to the continent.
"In the same woods lived two friends my age. I would visit them and watch their TV since we didn"t have one. That"s where I saw Michael Jackson for the first time and my life was changed forever," said lead singer Bent Van Looy.
He added that the group believes that the best is still to come from them and is looking forward to people hearing their new self-titled opus.
The Ghent Festivities take over much of the medieval centre of the city for ten days during July every year and include parades and jousting tournaments as the destination remembers it"s history.
