People taking ferries to france could try out New Year"s Eve in a nearby city which has great attractions by day and night, according to one newspaper.The Observer reported that Ghent has vibrant nightlife which is set up to make the end of the noughties something to remember for people visiting the city.
"Work off some of that Leffe beer with a stroll around the centre, taking in St Michael"s Bridge, from where there is an impressive view of the city skyline," it stated.
The city also has fantastic accommodation on offer, according to the newspaper which said that the Patershol district is full of boutique style hotels that have elegant decors and bold minimalist styles.
In the new year travellers may want to return to Ghent to take part in the several festivals that run throughout the summer, including the International Street Theatre Festival.
