Holidaymakers who want to enjoy a laidback break in Ghent can take in the atmosphere at a festival where relaxing is literally the name of the game. The Polé Polé festival, which means "take it easy" in Swahili, comes to the region in July so ferry passengers who want to book in advance can do so to ensure they are able to take in the music, food and culture in Ghent and Zeebrugge.
Holidaymakers can enjoy the two day event which is split between the two regions, with Ghent hosting a day in July and Zeebrugge putting on bands in August.
Its website stated: "Past festivals have included performances by Cuban, Senegalese, Jamaican and Colombian bands, and this year promises to be yet another tropical extravaganza."
Football fans taking ferries across the channel can also enjoy a host of top-class action in the Ghent region with clubs like Royal Antwerp playing nearby.
