Christkindelsmarik is 'enchanting'

21.10.2008
The Christkindelsmarik in Strasbourg is soon to be here, it has been noted by organisers, with the centuries-old traditions of the festive gathering said to be as good as ever.

France"s biggest Christmas market was established in 1570, selling a wide array of presents, food, drink and handmade items that many ferry travellers may be interested to get for the stockings of loved ones.

The market"s official guidebook added: "The Christmas market offers visitors a touch of adventure and plenty of fine flavours! The hundreds of talented craftsmen who sell their wares on the market provide a chance to discover some enchanting festive products."

Christmas lights in Strasbourg were also highlighted as a great thing for travellers to see, with the guides noting that streets and houses were imaginatively lit with "countless" colours and bulbs, creating a trail of light that leads the visitor down to the famous cathedral.

Drivers taking the ferry will be happy to know that Strasbourg is at the confluence of a number of major European motorways given its central position in Europe.ADNFCR-1871-ID-18837303-ADNFCR
