Ferries to France take travellers to Paris' wintertime pleasure

30.12.2009
People travelling on ferries to france over the new year period will be able to sample the special charms that Paris has to offer at this time of year.

Writing for the Baltimore Sun, travel journalist Rick Steves said that strolling down the Champs-Elysees in winter is one of Europe"s greatest treats, while cafes and museums are likely to be less crowded than during the peak holiday season.

"One of Paris" great wintertime pleasures is watching the city bustle by while you linger at an outdoor table with a cafe creme, a vin chaud or best, a hot chocolate," he added.

Mr Steves went on to say that winter in Paris promises the opportunity to see world-class art, architecture and shopping during the day and enjoy fine food at a cosy bistro in the evening, all without the crowds that can get in the way of peak-time holidays.

Until January 4th, ferry travellers heading to Paris will be able to see an exhibition of Venetian painting in the second half of the 16th century at the Louvre.
